Down To Earth (1970)
Original vinyl: Z 30093, Barnaby Records. No gatefold.
Original CD: None. Most of the songs are contained on Before The Beach.
High Cumberland Jubilee (1971 (released 1976))
Original vinyl: BR/6014, Barnaby Records. Album has a plain sleeve, and a yellow
(sort of) label with an album melting over a tree branch. A rare variation of this album
exists, but is in the music, not the packaging. On this variation Bend a Little replaces
England on side two (repeated from side one, but mixed ever so slightly different), and
Ace replaces and Travelin' Clean. Also, the track High Cumberland Jubilee carries on to
the end rather than fading out like on the most common versions of the album (this is the
mix that is used on the Before The Beach CD). The lable on the second side lists
the tracks as they should appear, not as they are. I know of the existance of at least
three copies of the album like this, so I suspect that it is rare, but not impossible to
find. The only way to determine if the album is the rare version is to play it.
Original CD: None. All of the songs are contained on Before The Beach,
although some are mixed differently.
A White Sport Coat And A Pink Crustacean (1973)
Original vinyl: DSX 50150, ABC/Dunhill Records. No gatefold, lyrics on back cover.
Black ABC/Dunhill label, orange ABC/Dunhill sleeve with a sillouette of a family holding
hands on a mountainside on it.
Re-issue: MCA 37026, MCA Records. No gatefold or liner notes.
Original CD: MCAD-1589, MCA. Few liner notes, but no original art except for the
cover photo. Back cover art missing. Out of print.
Re-isssue CD: MCAD-31090, MCA. No liner notes or photos.
Living And Dying In 3/4 Time (1974)
Original vinyl: DSD-50132, ABC/Dunhill. Gatefold featuring a painting of a sunset,
limited liner notes on the back cover, lyrics on a black and white insert that includes a
photo of Jimmy. Black ABC/Dunhill label, orange ABC/Dunhill sleeve with a sillouette of a
family holding hands on a mountainside on it. An original Canadian promotional release has
"West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown God's Own Drunk Restricted - Not For Radio
Play" printed in white on the upper right corner of the album. This version is not a
gatefold, and has a plain white sleeve and a yellow/orange/purple Dunhill label.
Re-issue: MCA 37025, MCA. No gatefold or insert, plain white sleeve. Limited liner
notes on back cover.
Original CD: MCAD-1588. Decent liner notes and photo of the shark. Out of print.
Re-isssue CD: MCAD-31059. No liner notes or photos.
A-1-A (1974)
Original vinyl: DSD-50183, ABC/Dunhill Records. Gatefold with notes and several
photos, black ABC/Dunhill label, orange ABC/Dunhill sleeve with the sillouette of the
family on the mountainside.
Re-issue: ABCL 5065, ABC/Dunhill Records marketed by Anchor Records in the UK.
Re-issue: MCA Records (MCA XXXXX). No gatefold.
Original CD: MCAD-1590, MCA. No liner notes or photos.
Two-on-One CD: MCAD-5879, MCA. Includes a pretty complete back cover from A-1-A,
with all the liner notes. As for Volcano, includes the photo of Bubba pointing at a
steaming volcanic vent. No notes. Out of print.
Rancho Deluxe Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1975)
Original vinyl: UA-LA466G, United Artists Records. No gatefold; plain white sleeve
and tan label. Cover is slightly glossy. This album was reissued sometime in the early
80's on the Liberty label. The reissue has an identical cover, but is slightly more
glossy. The Liberty label is gray, and corectly credits Roger Bartlett for singing the
song "Left Me With a Nail to Drive." This reissue is probably rarer than the
original issue, but is worth less money if anything.
Original CD: None.
Havaņa Daydreamin' (1976)
Original vinyl: ABCD-914, ABC/Dunhill Records. Gatefold with notes and photos.
Orange ABC label, green ABC Records sleeve with white stripes and ABC Records between each
white stripe - two rare versions of this album are rumored to exist. One contains the
songs "Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home," and "Train to
Dixieland," and the other version contains the song "We've Been Taken to the
Cleaners (and I Already Had my Shirts Done). The author of this list has never seen a copy
of either of these and can not substantiate these rumors.
Re-issue: MCA Records (MCA XXXXX). No gatefold.
Original CD: MCAD-31093, MCA. No liner notes or photos.
Two-on-One CD: MCAD-5875, MCA. Very comprehensive liner notes for both Changes In
Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes and Havaņa Daydreamin'. Out of print. MCA cut "In
The Shelter" to make it all fit.
Havaņa Daydreamin' was originally to be called Second Wind. It was
to contain "Please Take Your Drunken Fifteen Year Old Girlfriend Home",
"Train To Dixieland", and "Wonder Why You Ever Go Home". Acetates of
this item are extremely rare!
Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes (1977)
Original vinyl: AB-990, ABC Records. Embossed album cover with gatefold featuring
many photos. Lyrics and notes on sleeve. Orange ABC Records label.
Re-issues: MCA-37150, MCA Records. No gatefold. Plain white sleeve. No liner notes.
The reissue on MCA contains an extra track not credited on the label. This is a short
acoustic reprise of the song "Changes in Lattitutes, Changes in Attitudes." This
album can be distinguished because it does not have a gatefold cover. Also, original
copies have the N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW symbols from the compass on the cover embossed
in the cardboard, the reissue has them printed in ink.
MHK-7123. Asian packaging.
Original CD: MCAD-31070, MCA. No liner notes or phots.
Re-isssue CD: MCAD-10951, MCA. Ultimate Master Disc gold CD. Skimpy liner notes.
Two-on-One CD: MCAD-5875, MCA. Very comprehensive liner notes for both Changes In
Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes and Havaņa Daydreamin'. Out of print. MCA cut "In
The Shelter" to make it all fit.
Son Of A Son Of A Sailor (1978)
Original vinyl: AA-1046, ABC. Gatefold with full-color photo of Jimmy, extensive
liner notes and photos on a colored cardboard record sleeve.
Re-issue vinyl: MCA 37024, MCA. No gatefold, no liner notes, plain white sleeve.
Original CD: MCAD-31091, MCA. No liner notes.
Two-on-One CD: MCAD-5867. Combines Son Of A Son Of A Sailor with Coconut Telegraph.
No liner notes. Out of print.
You Had To Be There (live) (1978)
Original vinyl: AK 1008/2, ABC Records. Gatefold, color sleeves and fold-out
poster. ABC is written inside of a musical note, instead of in a black ball like the older
albums. Cardboard picture sleeves featuring city and harbor scenes, etc.
Re-issue: MCA2-6005, MCA Records. Gatefold, plain sleeves, no poster. Cover
includes a gold circle with the statement, "Specially priced two record set."
Original CD: MCAD-6005, MCA Record. Live set packaged in two single-CD jewel boxes.
Complete booklet (actually, two identical booklets - one for each jewel box) with liner
notes. Out of print.
Re-isssue CD: MCAD-6005, MCA Records. Live set packaged in one double-CD jewel box
with updated back cover graphics. Complete booklet with liner notes.
Volcano (1979)
Original vinyl: MCA-5102, MCA Records. Gatefold with photos and Don Blanding poem.
Lyrics and liner notes on album sleeve. About this time MCA changed their labels from
being black with a prism to being blue with a rainbow. Some albums from this period have
plain tan labels (like Volcano). European imports of this album have the old black with
prism MCA label. These albums can also be identified by black lettering on the spine
instead of pink like the American versions.
Re-issue: MCA-5102 (stamped in gold foil as MCA-1657), MCA Records. Has gatefold,
but record sleeve is clear plastic. Original CD: MCAD-1657, MCA Records. No liner
notes or pictures.
Two-on-One CD: MCAD-5879, MCA Records. Includes a pretty complete back cover from
A-1-A, with all the liner notes. As for Volcano, includes the photo of Bubba pointing at a
steaming volcanic vent. No notes. Out of print.
Two-on-One CD: Jimmy Buffett Back 2 Back: MCD31755, MCA/BMG Austrailia. Australian
import combining Volcano and Last Mango In Paris.
Before The Salt (1979)
Original vinyl: 2 BR-6019, Barnaby/Janus Records. Reissues of Down to Earth
and High Cumberland Jubilee in one set. No gatefold, plain white sleeves, album
melting on a branch labe. An alternate cover exists, but I have not actually seen it, so I
do not know what it looks like.
Original CD: None. Most of the songs are contained on Before The Beach.
Coconut Telegraph (1980)
Original vinyl: MCA-5169, MCA Records. No gatefold. The record sleeve itself,
however, opens like an envelope and features a lot of art work and copious liner notes.
Custom disc label. Imports have the blue with rainbow MCA label with a custom sleeve and
insert that are identical to the fold open sleeve on the American versions.
Re-issue: MCA-5169 ( stamped as "Platinum Plus 37177"), MCA Records. Same
album jacket, but the record sleeve does not open like an envelope, as in the above
version. MCA eliminated most of the art work featured on the earlier sleeve, and crammed
the lyrics and liner notes on a standard record sleeve for this release. Custom label. Original
CD: MCAD-31092, MCA Records. No liner notes or pictures.
Two-on-One CD: MCAD-5867. Combines Son Of A Son Of A Sailor with Coconut Telegraph.
No liner notes. Out of print.
Jimmy Buffett (1981)
Original vinyl: XMP-6021, Excelsior Records. Re-issue of Down To Earth. No
gatefold, plain white sleeve, tan label.
Original CD: None. Most of the songs are contained on Before The Beach.
Somewhere Over China (1981)

the sleeve.
Original CD: MCAD-31168, MCA Records. No liner notes or photos.

Original vinyl: MCA 5447, MCA Records. No gatefold. Plain white record sleeve.
Lyrics and color photos are contained on a fold-out insert.
Original CD: MCAD-31094, MCA Records. No liner notes or pictures.

combines One Particular Habour with Riddles In The Sand. No liner notes, but a few photos.
MCA cut "When the Wild Life Betrays Me" from Riddles In The Sand to make
everything fit on one CD! Out of print.
Riddles In The Sand (1984)
Original vinyl: MCA-5512, MCA Records. No gatefold. Lyrics and photos on black and
white record sleeve.
Original CD: MCAD-31095, MCA Records. No liner notes or pictures.
Two-on-One CD: MCAD-5923, MCA Records. The last of MCA's two-fer Buffett CDs

everything fit on one CD! Out of print.
Last Mango In Paris (1985)
Original vinyl: MCA-5600, MCA Records. No gatefold. Lyrics on color sleeve. This
album also had a postcard to send in to enter in the Last Mango in Paris Cruise contest (I
think that all entries were automatically signed up to recieve the Coconut Telegraph).
Original CD: MCAD-31157, MCA Records. No liner notes or pictures.
Two-on-One CD: Jimmy Buffett Back 2 Back: MCD31755, MCA/BMG Austrailia. Australian

is basically A White Sport Coat And A Pink Crustacean, plus three tracks from Living
and Dying In 3/4 Time: "Ringling, Ringling," "Brand New Country
Star," and "God's Own Drunk." The artwork is a little wacky. It feartures a
lime green background with a black-and-white photo of Buffett in his long-hair, gold
necklace, handle bar-mustache days.
